The presence of a force from the Higgs field suggests the existence of its own carrier particle, the Higgs boson. This theorized boson interacts with all particles but gluons and photons, transferring force from the Higgs field.

WebApr 20, 2024 · Gluons (and mesons, for that matter) aren’t just exchanged between individual quarks within a proton or neutron, but can be exchanged between different protons or neutrons within a nucleus. WebAug 20, 2024 · Gluons are not dominant in nuclear binding of nucleons farther apart than a fermi; they are confined within a fermi. For nuclear distances, mesons do the job, in a residual interaction. Read up! – Cosmas Zachos Aug 20, 2024 at 6:11 @CosmasZachos I understand it now. WebJan 22, 1998 · The usual description in terms of baryons (such as protons and neutrons) and mesons (such as pions) must be abandoned in favour of the truly fundamental particles, quarks and gluons. http://www.differencebetween.net/technology/difference-between-muons-and-mesons/
WebTheoretical studies of glueballs have focused on glueballs consisting of either two gluons or three gluons, by analogy to mesons and baryons that have two and three quarks respectively. As in the case of mesons and baryons, glueballs would be QCD color charge neutral. The baryon number of a glueball is zero.
